Manufacturing Construction Program Management: Behind the Build at HPM

July 29, 2025

In industrial and manufacturing construction, no two projects are ever the same. Successful construction management solutions tailor plans to the client – whether the goal is ramping up production capacity, modernizing a legacy facility, or delivering complex logistics infrastructure on a tight timeline. Here’s a look behind the build at three standout industrial projects that showcase the diversity, scale, and precision of HPM’s manufacturing projects.

Buffalo Rock: Scaling Up to Meet Demand

When one of the largest privately held Pepsi bottlers in the U.S. needed to expand its footprint, Buffalo Rock turned to HPM for program management support on a high-volume distribution and manufacturing centers in Birmingham and Huntsville, AL. The Birmingham facility involved a 1 million-square-foot expansion and required intense coordination to meet evolving operational needs, from logistics planning to specialized beverage processing systems. Huntsville’s project included a 188,000 SF warehouse and 16,000 SF office space. HPM provided oversight throughout preconstruction and construction, helping the client scale up while minimizing risk and disruption.

Mercedes-Benz: Automotive Excellence in Action

HPM serves as Mercedes-Benz’s trusted partner in Alabama. Its 278-acre Bibb County campus includes a 658,000-square-foot consolidation center and a 1.3 million-square-foot after-sales hub next door. HPM was selected to guide procurement, prequalification and cost negotiations. HPM’s expertise in owner representation and project controls on large-scale manufacturing construction helped Mercedes-Benz accelerate project delivery while ensuring adherence to the automaker’s global standards of excellence.

Royal Cup Coffee: Brewing Efficiency into Every Detail

Royal Cup Coffee needed a major expansion and improvement to support its growing roasting and distribution operation in Birmingham. HPM provided procurement, move management, and preconstruction for the multi-scope project, which included new green bean receiving building, expansions to an existing manufacturing building, the addition of new roasting equipment, expansion of the existing warehouse and renovations to facilities for Safe Quality Foods (SQF) standards. The result? A facility that not only meets current production needs but also supports Royal Cup’s vision for future growth.
