Building Trust Through Program Management: RRISD and Stony Point High School

September 16, 2025

Round Rock Independent School District recently celebrated the ribbon cutting for their Stony Point High School Cafeteria Expansion – a project that enhances both the capacity and functionality of their campus dining experience.

The expansion introduces an exterior covered patio, giving students and staff a flexible, welcoming space to gather and dine. With approximately 872 seats now available, the cafeteria can better accommodate the school’s population, ensuring a more efficient lunch service and a more comfortable environment for everyone.

Beyond its increased footprint, the project incorporates thoughtful upgrades to improve the overall experience. Existing lighting was replaced with high-efficiency LED fixtures, providing brighter illumination while also improving energy performance. New exterior furniture, selected in collaboration with Stony Point Principal Dr. Watson, was chosen to reflect both comfort and the District’s focus on creating inviting, student-centered spaces.

A Longstanding Partnership with Round Rock ISD

HPM has partnered with Round Rock ISD for more than nine years, providing construction program management through trusted advice and measurable cost savings that have been built on a strong foundation of collaboration and transparency. HPM’s work with the District began with Audit and Advisory services following the 2014 bond program. After the 2017 bond proposal was unsuccessful, Round Rock ISD re-engaged with the community and successfully passed a $500M bond in 2018, bringing HPM on board through a construction program management contract to ensure projects stayed on schedule and within budget.

Despite the challenges of cost escalation, inflation, and leadership changes during that period, Round Rock ISD is on track to complete the 2018 bond program with an overall surplus—an achievement that underscores the strength of our partnership. HPM also guided the District through a new long-range facilities planning process, designed to improve transparency and community involvement. That effort led to the successful passage of three bond propositions in November 2024, totaling $933M in capital investment for the District.

Building for the Future

The Stony Point High School Cafeteria Expansion is more than just a construction project, it’s a reflection of Round Rock ISD’s commitment to its students and community. This new space was designed with care to create a welcoming environment that supports student well-being, accommodates growth, and embodies the values our community holds dear.

By investing in projects like this, the District is ensuring that today’s students and generations to come, will learn and thrive in facilities that truly serve their needs.

HPM is honored to have partnered with Round Rock ISD on this journey through construction program management, working hand in hand with dedicated educators, talented design professionals, and skilled contractors. Together, we’ve delivered a cafeteria that not only celebrates community pride but also functions beautifully, offering flexible seating, improved traffic flow, and modern amenities to better serve students and staff throughout the school day.
