HPM Announces Expansion of Professional Services, with the Launch of Engineering Practice

September 9, 2026

Cameron Thorne PE, to lead HPM’s new Engineering Services Division, offering more integrated project solutions for clients.

HPM has announced the launch of a new engineering service line, a strategic expansion that strengthens the company’s ability to act as a full-service partner for clients throughout the lifecycle of their projects. Heading up the division is Cameron Thorne, P.E., who joins HPM as the Director of Engineering.

The addition of engineering services represents a natural extension of HPM’s longstanding expertise in program management, owner’s representation and project leadership. By adding engineering capabilities, HPM can provide clients with more integrated solutions, helping bridge gaps between project vision, planning and execution.

Thorne brings 18 years of experience in the engineering and consulting industry. He joins HPM after spending the past decade with an Alabama-based engineering firm, where he began as a design structural engineer and advanced to Vice President of Engineering. Thorne’s expertise is built on hands-on experience in diverse industrial environments including pulp and paper, chlor-alkali, manufacturing, power production, and chemical and industrial plants. He also brings a proven track record of collaborating with contractors to facilitate a smooth transition from design to construction.

“HPM has given me the opportunity to build something with the backing of a large, well-respected company,” said Thorne. “Many of our clients do not have engineers on staff. Through this new service line, we can help ensure that the communication, vision, and goals are clear so that there are no gaps in scope between the various disciplines and consultants involved. Extra focus on the front-end work will ultimately save clients time and money.”

The addition of engineering services will also allow HPM to become involved even earlier in project development, helping clients shape ideas and define needs. “It’s about being able to get on board with our clients from the literal ‘back of the napkin’ concept and help them develop the scope of the project,” said Thorne. “HPM has often entered the process after much of that work had already been completed. This gives us the opportunity to provide value even earlier.”

“As client needs evolve, so do we,” said HPM President Ryan Austin. “Engineering allows us to provide another layer of guidance and expertise while continuing to do what HPM has always done best: lead our owners to success by managing the details of their projects and advocating for their best interests.”

For clients seeking a more integrated approach to project planning and execution, HPM’s new engineering division is now available to help evaluate opportunities, define project scope and support development from concept through completion.
