Mobile International Airport

HPM is serving as program manager for the $250 million effort to create a new airport terminal complex near downtown Mobile. We are partnered with Mott MacDonald to supply Design Management services and to maintain the program integrity. This project will allow the Airport Authority to relocate its domestic flight services from its current location, thereby improving the accessibility and the end-user experience.

GOING INTERNATIONAL
Mobilians have long wished for a more convenient airport. The challenging location of Mobile Regional Airport has forced many to fly out of Pensacola and New Orleans. The current administration promised to explore the possibility of a new terminal at Brookley and with the appropriate assistance from the FAA and other federal revenue streams, they saw a path to reality.

When the terminal becomes operational in 2024, commercial passenger traffic will shift from Mobile Regional Airport in west Mobile to Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, a mixed-use industrial complex. The new terminal will meet the standards required to be designated an international airport. Backers of the swap believe that Brookley’s proximity to downtown, its relative ease of access for Baldwin County customers and its easy interstate access will make Mobile more competitive with the airports in other regional cities. It is a transformational opportunity that will bring lower fares, more direct flights, increased tourism and greater economic development opportunities.
